Our Digital Home Gets a Refresh

"A digital home that reflects the organization's actual stature is not cosmetic. It is functional. When a Ministry of Health, a potential academic partner, or a funding institution looks at IME, the first thing they see should match the caliber of the work."

When an organization has been doing the work for nearly three decades, its digital presence should reflect that depth. Our previous site held the information, but it did not tell the full story — the relationships built, the physician exchanges completed, the partnerships that have quietly shaped health systems across the continent.

The updated site is not a rebrand. It is an honest reflection of where IME stands now, and a platform for what comes next.

The redesign was built around a simple question: what does someone need to understand about IME within sixty seconds of arriving? The answer determined everything. The homepage now leads with our mission — Empowerment through Health — and the core idea that has defined IME since 1997: bridging expertise between African American and African physicians to transform care in underserved Pan-African communities.

From there, the site maps the organization. Our programs. Our board and advisory council — a group that includes some of the most respected names in global health informatics, telemedicine, and academic medicine. Our partners, ranging from Morgan State University's School of Community Health & Policy to Ashesi University in Ghana, from Telemedicine Africa to SAHIA and HELINA.

The archive section preserves IME's history — the conferences in Sun City (1997) and Nairobi (1999), the ministerial engagements, the evolution from medical missions to a structured global nonprofit.

IME is entering a period of significant acceleration. The AI4AfricanHealth initiative is gaining momentum. The partner network is expanding. The 2027 AI4AfricanHealth Conference is on the horizon.

The site reflects IME. It does not define IME. The organization's real asset — its network, its convening power, its track record of bringing the right institutions together across continents — has not changed. The website simply makes that easier to see.

If you have not visited recently, we invite you to take a look. And if what you see prompts a conversation, that is exactly what the site was built to start.
